Success Story

Miss Charlotte ~ some of you might remember Miss Charlie, she is the pig that come from a Virginia college dorm with a bunch of nice young men. However, graduation June, 2004, found Miss Charlie without a home. And so the story goes.. .

Chubby was on of PPN's special needs pigs. He was not only slightly deformed with indentations in his sides, but he was very, very shy and would not go near people. Due to Chubby's fearful personality, he was passed over for adoption over and over again and as the months and years passed, we wondered if Chubby would ever find a new home.

Chimes   ~ When Chimes became a PPN foster pig she was just a piglet of 4-month old.  She had been in foster care for almost three years before someone came to the Farm and fell in love. Her new human mother fell in love with Chimes from the first time she ever laid eyes on her. Unfortunately, her new mom Eileen could not take her home due to zoning restrictions in her community. But she continued to visit Chimes often and would spend time with her whenever Uncle Milton, Chimes pen pal, would allow it.  *** Update on Uncle Milton*** He is still waiting at the Ross Mill Farm for someone to love him. He now lives with Bessy, another sweet little shy girl.  Bessy was taken in by PPN several years ago, she and her mother, Mildred were both abused by a man.  Uncle Milton likes the shy type of girl.  They get along very well. If you would like to adopt Milton, visit Milton or sponsor Milton, he would sure appreciate it.

Porkita & Mush….are both doing just fine. We did not have any problems that time and patience did not resolve. Mush has been with us for a year and half and has brought much joy and laughter. When she arrived it took less than 1 day to housebreak her. She has learned to sit, wear a harness, walk on a leash and pay the piano. We loved her so much we adopted Porkita. She was 5 years old when we adopted her and with the help of Jeannie Watson I was able to bring the two pigs together. They sleep together and eat at the same time. They do make great pets and are very affectionate. Signed, Fran, Ridge, New York

Sunny. He is doing fine and is one of the family. He had made himself at home. Susan and her sister we fantastic and helpful though the adoption process. He does get lazy and stubborn at times so it can be a challenge to remind him to go outside and use the bathroom. As you can see from the picture, I like to refinish furniture and Sunny is always right there to help. Signed, Danielle & Tim, Reading, Pennsylvania

Lola. She is doing great. She has her outside pen for during the day and her crate inside at night. When she is in the yard, out side of her pen we do need to watch her because she will root in the garden sometimes. We love her even when she acts like a terrible two year old. I think its great that I can always contact you regarding her well-being and any problems. Signed, Fran, Madison, Connecticut

Charles Y. Charles is doing great!! He is delightful; we have not had any problems. Charles loves to walk around the property and eat grass. He has a fenced in pen with a house that he calls home. When we had a party at our new house, he was a hit. The kids enjoyed watching and petting him. He is eating fine, getting his exercise and all is well. Thank you for following up. Signed, Sharon, Andover, New Jersey

Spike …is doing really well. We have no had any problem at all. Spike is so loveable. He loves hanging his tummy scratched and loves attention. He is the best pet ever and I am so lucky to have him. The adoption went very well and the day we spent at Ross Mill Farm before adopting was very enjoyable and informative. If I decide to adopt another pig it will be from PPN. Signed, Joe & Michelle, Dickson City, Pennsylvania

Honey Pie (now Bandit). .. now rules the roost! She has approximately 40 acres to free range and lots of other animal friends. We have many visitors to our home and farm, sometimes 500 children a week. She is still shy with people, which is probably good because, if not she may be petted to death. Signed, Suzanne, Gradyville, Pennsylvania

Olivia Newton Hog … She has adjusted wonderful to her new home. She loves the open spaces and her feather bed in the house. She gets along quite well here – keep in touch with us! Signed, Ryan and Lisa, Dallas, Pennsylvania

Timmy …is Great!! We love him to death! He is a very sweet and affectionate fella and loves to be cuddle with me. We have not had any problems at all. At first he did demand his breakfast early in the morning but now has learned to stay quiet until I get up and he hears my voice. You are all doing a great job!!! This picture is of Timmy and Jazlyn moving the grass for me!  Signed, Karen, Christiansburg, Virginia

Homer … He fits right in and made himself at home like he had always been here. He is wonderful – we love him and he is adjusting to our family just fine. Susan at Ross Mill has been incredibly helpful and adopting an older pig was the right thing for us! I do believe Homer was meant for me – he is sweet as pie. My husband was leery about adopting a pig, but after learning about them and having Homer, he would rather have a house full of pigs instead of dogs! Signed, Mariela, Ligoner, Pennsylvania

LaVerne … is doing great! I cannot believe how wonderful she is. She and the baby are getting close. They lie on the floor and play with wooden blocks together. She has told everyone about her piggy that goes “oink-oink”. Thanks again, Signed, Shana, Hanover, Maryland

Chloe She does not adjust to anything she’s the boss! She is a joy – but a bed hog (pardon the pun). We just love her! Signed, Sharon, Westfield, Pennsylvania

Rosie & Jeb … They are doing wonderful, they are outside during the day and come into my studio at night. They have wandered too far from home in search of apples. They love to run thought the fields. I think you do a wonderful job and would like to say “keep up with the pig mission” ! Signed, Karen, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania

Benson … is doing wonderful .. he considers himself one of the family! Signed, Susan & Dennis, Logan, New Jersey

Hank …is completely adjusted and has made “his own place”. As you can see, he likes to sleep on top of his new friend Oscar. We think you are doing a great job! Signed, JT & Christina Baltimore, Maryland
